Every child learns differently. At Lakeside Learning LLC, our personalized tutoring sessions are designed to meet students where they are, helping them build academic skills, confidence, and a love of learning.
Whether your child needs extra support in reading, writing, math, homework completion, or study skills, each lesson is carefully tailored to their individual strengths, learning style, and goals. Using evidence-based instructional strategies and engaging activities, we create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their progress.
Our goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students become confident, independent learners who are prepared for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Every successful tutoring journey begins with understanding where a student is today. Before beginning regular tutoring sessions, new students complete a comprehensive one-hour Initial Learning Assessment.
During this individualized session, I use research-based assessments and instructional practices to identify your child’s current strengths, areas for growth, and learning needs. This allows every tutoring plan to be personalized from the very first session.
Assessment Fee: $50
Length: 60 minutes
Location: Conducted in person at your home, a local library, or another mutually agreed-upon location. Conducted virtually upon request.
The reading assessment evaluates several key components of literacy development, including:
Phonological Awareness
Phonics Knowledge
Reading Fluency
Reading Comprehension
Using my AVMR (Add+Vantage Math Recovery) Levels 1 & 2 Certification, I assess your child’s mathematical thinking and number understanding rather than simply identifying whether answers are right or wrong.
The assessment includes:
Number sense and number relationships
Addition and subtraction strategies
Multiplication and division understanding (when appropriate)
Mental math strategies
Additionally, a standards-based assessment will be administered to determine your child’s current instructional level and identify areas for growth.
Following the assessment, you’ll receive:
✔ A summary of your child’s strengths
✔ Areas where additional support may be beneficial
✔ Recommended instructional goals
✔ A personalized tutoring plan designed around your child’s unique learning needs
This information helps ensure every tutoring session is purposeful, engaging, and focused on meaningful progress.
Rather than guessing what a student needs, the Initial Assessment allows tutoring to begin with a clear understanding of their current skills and learning goals. This individualized approach helps maximize each tutoring session and ensures instruction is tailored specifically to your child’s needs. There's no pressure! We just want the child to do their best so we can see what they know and what help they need to grow!
